ASSISTANT MATERIALS MANAGER SUMMARY:
The Assistant Materials Manager is responsible for the plant activities related to the materials department such as: receiving, scheduling, storage, handling, and delivery processes.

ASSISTANT MATERIALS MANAGER SUMMARY:
The Assistant Materials Manager is responsible for the plant activities related to the materials department such as: receiving, scheduling, storage, handling, and delivery processes.
ASSISTANT MATERIALS MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Guide and develop Materials Planners and Materials supervisors.
- Monitor the scheduling of incoming raw material.
- Assists with establishing the department procedures which are consistent with established corporate policies and procedures.
- Ensures proper warehousing practices including FIFO and material flow to support production requirements while maintaining quality.
- Helps coordinates flow of materials or products.
- Responsible for monitoring and reporting of receipts, production, scrap, etc. to accurately maintain inventory levels.
- Works with suppliers to improve efficiency.
- Responsible for expediting incoming material as required.
- Enforces safety compliance by ensuring the proper training is given in OSHA mandated regulations.
- Understands and complies with all company policies and procedures, and enforces workers to follow all company policies and procedures.
- Monitors suppliers and commercial carriers to ensure that delivery schedules are consistently met and any error rectified on a timely basis.
- Arranges for disposal of surplus materials.
- Develops and implements visual inventory management systems on the production floor.
- Assists as required in resolving this disposition of substandard or rejected materials.
- Ensures supplies are delivered on time to provide uninterrupted production and shipment of finished goods.
- Utilizes and practices methods of continuous improvement.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree (BS or BA) with at least four years experience in an Automotive environment.
- Lead, motivate, and coach.
- Develop and maintain good employee relations and communications cross functionally.
- Excellent oral and written presentation skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate to a diverse audience (customers, suppliers, employees).
- Results oriented approach.
