Estimator – Commercial Construction

Our client, a well-established and respected general contracting firm based in West Palm Beach, is seeking a talented Estimator to join their growing team. Known for delivering high-quality commercial construction projects on time and within budget, they offer a collaborative and fast-paced environment where your expertise will have a direct impact.

Position Overview:

As an Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in the preconstruction and bidding process. You’ll be responsible for creating accurate cost estimates, evaluating project plans and specifications, and working closely with project managers and subcontractors to ensure each project is set up for success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret architectural and engineering drawings, project plans, and specifications to define scope and requirements.

• Develop detailed and comprehensive cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead.

• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids, ensuring competitive pricing and thorough coverage.

• Partner with project managers to review estimates, timelines, and construction methodologies.

• Conduct job site visits as needed to gather information for more accurate cost assessments.

• Maintain and update a database of historical cost data and project metrics for benchmarking.

• Monitor ongoing project costs and flag potential discrepancies.

• Assist in the preparation of bid packages and proposals for submission.

• Stay informed on industry pricing trends, construction materials, and innovations to ensure market-competitive estimates.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).

• Proven estimating experience within commercial construction, ideally with a general contractor.

• Solid understanding of construction methods, means, and materials.

• Proficient in estimating software (such as PlanSwift, ProEst, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Exceptional analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.

• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.

• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities independently.
